Micro Machines: Military is a top-down racing game where vehicles like helicopters and tanks compete on miniature tracks. These courses are set in everyday locations such as a garden or on a kitchen table.
The gameplay includes standard races and time trials, alongside battle arenas where the objective is to survive against attacking opponents for a duration. Players can use weapons to impede others during a race.
A notable feature is the support for multiplayer, accommodating up to sixteen participants in a hot-seat format. Using a special J-Cart peripheral, eight players can race at the same time by sharing controller inputs. The military theme extends to the game's soundtrack.
