Tamagotchi Overview
Tamagotchi for Game Boy adapts the virtual pet concept into a handheld video game. The player's role is to care for one or more alien creatures hatched from eggs, managing needs like feeding, health, and discipline.
A key difference from the original toy is the adjustable growth speed, allowing the simulation to progress outside of real time. Up to three pets can be raised at once, with their development influenced by three specific mini-games. These activities are designed to boost the creature's happiness, intellect, or physical condition through simple guessing, arithmetic, or reaction-based challenges.
The game includes competitive tournaments focused on racing, beauty, and knowledge. A pet's performance in these events is tied to its prior care and training, and winning results in a Hall of Fame placement. Entering a tournament while the creature is unwell or poorly behaved will hinder its chances.
