Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Bad Dream is a side scrolling beat 'em up. The player controls Buster Bunny, who progresses through four distinct worlds fighting nightmarish opponents.
Combat is built around a repertoire of sixteen combos reminiscent of the Final Fight series. A second Tiny Toons character can be selected as a temporary sidekick, granting unique special abilities like enhanced strength or area of effect attacks. Using standard attacks against enemies extends the duration this companion remains available.
Each world concludes with a confrontation against a large boss creature. Progression can be saved and resumed through a password system, which also manages the player's supply of continues.
