The Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree Overview
The Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree is a puzzle platformer for the Game Boy Advance, adapted from a book of the same title. The narrative follows Brother Bear, Sister Bear, and Cousin Fred, whose exploration is interrupted by a storm, leading them into the titular tree where they must navigate seven expansive levels to find a way out.
Success hinges on utilizing the distinct capabilities of each character. Brother Bear can move boxes and employs a straight-firing slingshot, while Sister Bear possesses an extended jump and a stick for defense. Cousin Fred provides access to elevated areas with a rope and can toss pinecones in an arcing trajectory. The game is challenging in that enemies deplete a courage meter; losing all courage requires restarting the level, though collectible candy and honey pots offer an extra attempt.
This release included a separate Berenstain Bears story titled Trick or Treat as a packaged bonus.
