Tak 2 : The Staff of Dreams Overview
Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams is a side-scrolling platformer where the player controls the apprentice shaman Tak. His quest to recover the stolen Staff of Dreams, an item that can unleash nightmare creatures, is prompted by a prophetic dream involving a Dream Guardian and a thief called the Dream Juju.
Gameplay involves navigating nine distinct worlds, using standard jumps and items while also solving puzzles. A key system involves collecting energy to fill a Juju meter, which when full grants temporary special movement abilities like floating or double jumps. Currency called yorbels, found in levels or won in a mini-game, can be spent at Yorbel Stores for power-ups.
A parallel dimension called the Dream World can be accessed by filling magical bottles with energy. This realm reveals hidden platforms within the standard levels. Progress can be saved with a single save file on the cartridge.
