Boukyaku no Senritsu Overview
Boukyaku no Senritsu is a Japan-exclusive action-adventure title based on its anime counterpart, known in the West as The Melody of Oblivion. Players begin by choosing one of three protagonists—Bokka, Toone, or Coco—each offering a distinct narrative path. Completing all three individual stories reveals an additional bonus scenario.
The experience alternates between two primary modes. Story progression is handled through visual novel segments, while exploration and combat adopt a top-down perspective. In these action sequences, characters traverse open areas, engaging enemies with melee swings, projectile attacks, or special abilities. Defeat requires restarting the current stage from its beginning, a system that can be challenging depending on the selected difficulty setting of easy, normal, or hard.
An in-game menu provides access to various unlockable extras, such as background music tracks, anime cutscenes, event galleries, and character art. These features become available as players advance through the game's stages, which are structured around culminating boss encounters. Health and other resources can be managed by collecting items found throughout the world.
