Batman : Vengeance Overview
Batman: Vengeance for the Game Boy Advance adapts the narrative from its console counterpart, drawing visual inspiration from the 1990s animated series. The plot follows Batman's investigation after the Joker's apparent demise, which leads to other villains like Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy attempting to seize power. He is occasionally assisted by allies Robin and Batgirl.
Gameplay is segmented into distinct level types, each with unique mechanics. One mode involves traditional side-scrolling where Batman fights henchmen using physical attacks and gadgets like batarangs and a grappling hook. Another perspective shift occurs in top-down Batmobile stages, where the player navigates traffic and obstacles under a time limit, using the vehicle's weapon to clear a path.
Control shifts to other characters in specific scenarios. Robin and Batgirl pilot the Batplane in horizontally scrolling shooter segments, avoiding hazards and using weapons and a temporary shield. Robin also features in solo, top-down puzzle stages that involve navigating labyrinths, moving crates, finding key items, and using a remote-controlled robot to access small spaces while dealing with enemies.
Completing the primary Story Mode unlocks an challenging Advance Mode. This mode repurposes the level designs with new objectives, such as collecting data disks or destroying specific targets, all under strict time constraints.
