Thing Thing 4 Overview
Thing Thing 4 was one of those late-era Flash games you'd find buried on a gaming portal. It arrived when that whole ecosystem was still active, a straightforward action sidescroller built for quick, violent play sessions. You control a lone soldier, a prisoner thrown into a facility overrun by hostile cyborgs and mutants. The story is minimal, just a setup for the chaos that follows. Your goal is simple: fight through each room, clear the enemies, and survive to the end.
You move from left to right, using the keyboard to run, jump, and duck behind cover. The moment-to-moment play is about managing a constant stream of foes and a scattered arsenal of weapons. You can carry two guns at a time, swapping between a pistol, a shotgun, or a rocket launcher as you find them. Ammo is limited, so you often have to drop your empty weapon and scramble for a new one. The game moves quickly, and the difficulty comes from the sheer number of enemies that fill the screen. It feels frantic and messy, a test of reflexes where you're always one hit away from a game over screen.
