Thing Thing Arena 2 Overview
Thing Thing Arena 2 was one of those games you'd find buried in a Flash portal around the mid-2000s. It belonged to a wave of simple, violent arena shooters that ran right in your browser. You controlled a lone soldier, a mercenary of sorts, dropped into a series of compact rooms. The goal was straightforward: survive every wave of enemies the game threw at you.
You moved with the A and D keys, jumping and ducking to avoid fire. Aiming and shooting were handled entirely with the mouse, which gave the shooting a direct, if sometimes clumsy, feel. You'd cycle through an arsenal of weapons with Q and E, swapping from a pistol to a shotgun or a machine gun as ammo ran low. The pacing was relentless. Enemies spawned continuously, and the difficulty ramped up quickly, forcing you to keep moving and shooting. It felt chaotic and unforgiving, a test of reflexes in a confined, bloody space.
