Onslaught 2 Overview
Onslaught 2 was one of those tower defense games you'd find during the Flash era. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it had a specific hook that kept you coming back. You placed turrets along winding paths to stop waves of enemies, a familiar setup from that time.
You control the placement and upgrades of your defenses. Your main goal is to survive all the waves on a map. The core loop involves earning cash from defeated enemies, then spending it on new turrets or improving old ones. The game's signature mechanic is the combo system; destroying enemies in quick succession multiplies your cash reward. This pushes you to plan your turret placements for chain reactions, not just steady damage. The pacing starts slow but the difficulty ramps up noticeably in later waves. It feels like a puzzle where your budget is always a little too tight.
