Hungry Are The Dead was one of those games you'd find in the late 2000s, a straightforward action title from the Flash era. It didn't try to be anything more than a quick, tense way to spend a few minutes. You were just a soldier, positioned in the middle of the screen, with a single job.
You control a lone soldier who cannot move from his central post. Your only task is to survive wave after wave of zombies shuffling in from both sides of the screen. You click to fire your rifle, a deliberate action that requires timing as the undead close in. Reloading is a constant, nervous ritual; you must click on an ammo pile beside your character to load each bullet individually, which creates a real pressure between shots. Sometimes you can switch to a grenade to clear a tight cluster. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty comes from managing that slow reload while the horde presses closer. It feels like a desperate, static stand against an inevitable tide.
