Extreme Racing Overview
Extreme Racing was one of those straightforward games you'd find during the Flash era. It didn't have a complicated backstory or a long list of features. You just opened it in your browser and started driving. The visuals were simple, with a clear track and recognizable cars, which was typical for the time. It was the kind of game you played for a few minutes between other tasks, but those minutes could get pretty intense.
You control a single car, usually viewed from behind, and your only job is to stay on the road. The left and right arrow keys shift your car between three lanes to avoid traffic. The cars you're dodging are other race cars, and they don't move out of your way. The game starts at a manageable pace, but it doesn't stay that way for long. Your speed increases steadily, forcing you to make quicker and quicker decisions. The main objective is simply to survive for as long as possible, with your score based on the distance you cover. The difficulty comes from that relentless acceleration, which eventually makes the traffic feel like a solid wall. It feels like a constant, escalating test of your reflexes.
