Antz : Extreme Racing Overview
Antz Extreme Racing is a kart racing title for the Game Boy Advance that adapts the 1998 animated film into a competitive format. Its primary championship, called 4 Seasons, requires players to finish in first place across all twelve tracks to progress, a condition that makes the mode challenging. Advancement is recorded through passwords issued after a successful race.
The game features six selectable characters from the film, each with distinct attributes for speed, braking, and weight. Tracks are presented using a visual technique that simulates 3D movement through scaling and rotation. While eight tracks are available initially, the remaining four must be unlocked through gameplay.
Various items can be collected during races to gain an advantage, including offensive options like forward-seeking projectiles and rear-fired weapons, as well as defensive shields and speed boosts. A unique health system is present, where a leaf icon depletes as the kart collides with obstacles, though it can be restored with specific pickups. Scattered green collectibles serve as currency for a shop where additional power-ups can be purchased between events.
Beyond the championship, players can engage in single races on unlocked courses, face a random opponent on a random track in a one-on-one mode, or connect with another player using a link cable for multiplayer competition.
