Ugh! Overview
Ugh! is an action game set in a prehistoric environment where the player operates a pedal powered helicopter as a taxi service. Cavemen emerge from cave entrances on platforms and state their desired destinations, which must be reached within a time limit. The core task across sixty nine levels is to transport a required number of these passengers.
Flight control is indirect; maintaining altitude requires continuous pedaling, while descending means stopping. A challenging element is that crashing into walls ends the level. Passengers must be approached carefully, as landing on them causes a fall, though they can be retrieved from the water below. The pilot's energy depletes with pedaling and is restored by eating fruit, which is obtained by throwing a rock at a tree.
Environmental hazards include a pterodactyl that flies across the screen and a triceratops that charges the helicopter if it lands nearby. Success depends on managing the unconventional controls, avoiding obstacles, and fulfilling passenger requests before time runs out.
