Super Nibbly Overview
Super Nibbly is a maze-based game where the player directs a growing worm. It functions as a follow-up to an earlier title from its creator, Nibbly '92.
Play alternates between two primary modes. An overhead map shows the worm traveling between island villages, with brief non-interactive scenes during the journey. Upon reaching a village, the perspective shifts to a single-screen, Pac-Man-style maze devoid of enemies. The core task in these mazes is to consume every pill or cookie present.
Movement is controlled one step at a time, requiring planning to avoid the snake's own elongating body, which causes a life loss upon collision. The game is challenging due to a countdown timer and maze features like dead-ends that can trap the worm. A special projectile called a puck can be fired into these areas to collect pills safely. Consuming pills extends the worm's length, while temporary power-ups can alter its size, award points, add time, or provide a puck.
Each village location contains several mazes to clear before returning to the map. The player has three lives, after which the game ends.
