Osadníci Overview
Polanie is a real-time strategy title set in an early medieval Slavic context, where the player commands a prince seeking vengeance after his home is destroyed. The core economic system revolves around a single resource, milk, which is generated by cows that must graze on grasslands before returning to their barns. This resource is used to construct all buildings, defensive structures, and military units.
Gameplay involves a primary non-linear campaign of twenty-five missions, where opponents utilize identical unit types to the player. Certain units, like woodcutters, serve dual purposes in both construction and combat as axemen. The setting incorporates magical elements, including sacred healing sites, priests capable of summoning aerial fire, and various magical creatures that can aid or hinder progress. Players can organize warriors into grouped formations for control.
Later CD-ROM versions expanded the content with three additional unit types, five shorter campaigns adding twenty-seven new missions, three-dimensional animations, and audio track music. Regional editions differed significantly; the German release, titled Victory, altered the campaign's geographical backdrop to German lands and removed the original introductory animation, while the Czech version was built upon the updated Polish CD-ROM edition.
