Liverpool: The Computer Game Overview
Liverpool: The Computer Game is a licensed football simulation from Arc Developments, released in 1992. The game exclusively features Liverpool FC, a club whose FA Cup win that year is noted as its last major honor for some time. Players can engage in a full season, individual matches, a two-player friendly, or the FA Cup competition.
The presentation uses a third-person 3D perspective that shows a detailed, close-up section of the pitch, supplemented by a scanner display showing player positions across the entire field. While each squad member has a written profile, their in-game models are identical and all appear as white. Team formation and starting selections are customizable.
Control revolves around the ball, which has a magnetic quality to a player's foot. Possession automatically switches to the nearest teammate by pressing the fire button, even if that player is off-screen. Directing a one-touch pass is done by pressing fire as the ball arrives while pointing the joystick. An optional aftertouch mechanic is included, which is an uncommon feature for its time.
