Floor 13 Overview
Floor 13 is a black and white management simulation set in a secret London agency dedicated to preserving the Prime Minister's political standing. The player acts as the Director General, operating through a menu based interface to handle a series of twenty day operational cycles.
Success is measured by the Prime Minister's poll numbers, which directly affect the agency's resources and the player's job security. Favorable performance leads to expanded capabilities, while poor results risk budget cuts or termination. Each completed cycle adds another twenty day period with new objectives.
The agency's methods are explicitly unethical, involving illegal surveillance, home invasions, disinformation campaigns, and commando assaults. Missions can involve international incidents, domestic scandals, or silencing whistleblowers. The gameplay permits detention, torture, and assassination, though excessive use of such overt tactics can attract fatal attention from a mysterious enforcer.
Operations are complicated by a rival secret society that pushes its own agenda, potentially conflicting with official directives. The player must balance these competing pressures, the Prime Minister's popularity, and the risk of exposure while executing morally reprehensible tasks to maintain a facade of democratic stability.
