Monster House Overview
Monster House for the Game Boy Advance is an adventure where players control three children exploring a living, hostile building. The setting is the interior of this structure, which contains multiple levels like a basement, attic, and roof.
Gameplay involves switching between the three child characters, each with a separate health pool and a unique traversal skill. Their primary tool is a water blaster, which has its own ammunition supply. Environmental interaction includes breaking objects to find health-restoring candy or water for refilling the blaster.
Progression requires finding keys for locked doors and using various utility items. A flashlight illuminates dark areas, while a camera flash can temporarily disable enemies. The children receive guidance via a walkie-talkie from an off-screen friend named Skull.
The house refrains from attacking in bathroom areas, which consequently function as safe zones for saving progress. One room contains a playable arcade cabinet featuring a separate side-scrolling action mini-game.
