Cartoon Network Speedway is a racing game set within a championship featuring characters from the network. Progression is tied not just to winning races but to performing stylish actions, which build a star rating.
This rating system, increased by overtaking rivals, using attacks, and collecting items, serves as the key to unlocking additional content. Initially, most of the twelve available characters and tracks are inaccessible.
Multiple game modes are present, including single races, structured championships, and specific challenges based on star performance. A two-player option is also available. The racing involves a variety of twenty power-ups that create hazards, boost speed, or produce other effects, alongside track shortcuts.
