War Bears Overview
War Bears was one of those games you'd find tucked away on a Flash portal in the late 2000s. It didn't have a big studio name attached, just a simple, functional title that told you exactly what to expect. You loaded it up in your browser, and for a few minutes, it was your whole world.
You control a small, blocky bear armed with a rifle. The goal is straightforward: rescue the hostages held in each level. You click to move your bear around the map, a series of interconnected rooms filled with enemy soldiers. The moment-to-moment play is a careful dance of positioning and timing. You peek around corners, line up shots, and try to eliminate guards before they can sound an alarm or return fire. The mechanics are basic but clear; you have a limited field of view, and enemies follow predictable patrol routes. The pacing is tense, not frantic. One wrong move, and you're overwhelmed, forcing a quick restart. It feels like a quiet, methodical puzzle where every shot matters.
