Shore Siege Overview
Shore Siege was one of those straightforward Flash games you'd find in the late 2000s, a time when a simple concept and a few minutes to spare were all you needed. It didn't try to be anything more than a quick, browser based diversion. You controlled a stationary cannon on a pirate ship, looking out over a calm sea that wouldn't stay calm for long.
Your job was to defend your ship from waves of enemy vessels sailing in from the right side of the screen. You aimed your cannon with the mouse and clicked to fire, timing your shots to lead the targets as they moved. The core loop involved watching the horizon for the next ship, adjusting for their speed, and trying to sink them before they could return fire and chip away at your health bar. The pacing was methodical at first, but it picked up as more ships appeared, creating a steady pressure. It felt like a test of simple, patient marksmanship against a gradually increasing tide.
