Love Next Door Overview
Love Next Door was one of those simple, quick games you'd find during the Flash era. It came out in 2006, a time when a lot of web games focused on a single, silly idea. You didn't need a story or complex controls, just a browser and a mouse.
You control a cursor, clicking on a boy and a girl to make them kiss. Your main goal is to get them to kiss as many times as you can before the timer runs out. The challenge comes from other characters, like a neighbor or a dog, who appear and watch the couple. If someone is watching, the pair immediately stops. You have to click on these intruders to shoo them away, then quickly click the couple again. The pace is frantic, with new watchers popping up constantly. It feels like a silly, slightly stressful game of whack-a-mole where you're managing a tiny, awkward romance.
