Ichi Overview
Ichi came out during the Flash era, a time when simple, clever games thrived online. It was a game you could load in a browser and play immediately, without any fuss. The developer, Stephen Lavelle, created a distinct puzzle experience that felt different from other games of that period.
You control a cursor, a simple white dot, and your only tool is the mouse. The screen fills with colored shapes, often circles or squares, and your goal is to destroy them all. The core mechanic involves clicking: each click destroys a shape and also draws a temporary line to every other shape of the same color, damaging them. You have to think about chain reactions and the order of your clicks to clear the board efficiently. The game starts calmly but quickly demands faster decisions as more shapes appear. It feels like a tense, spatial puzzle where every click ripples across the screen.
