Bush Backrub Overview
Bush Backrub was one of those odd little Flash games that felt perfectly at home in the mid-2000s. It appeared during a time when browser games were often simple, satirical, and made in a hurry. You played as President George W. Bush, tasked with a very specific diplomatic mission.
You control Bush's hands with your mouse, rubbing the shoulders of various world leaders as they sit in a chair. Your main goal is to keep them relaxed and happy, preventing their stress meters from filling up. Each leader has a different temperament; some, like Kim Jong Il, grow agitated quickly if you stop. The mechanics are straightforward. You click and drag to massage, watching for visual feedback like smiles or grimaces. The pacing is constant, almost frantic, as you switch between leaders to manage multiple rising stress bars. It feels like a silly, slightly absurd race against time.
