Bubble Tanks Overview
Bubble Tanks was one of those games you'd find during the Flash era, a straightforward shooter that didn't need much explanation. It came out in 2007, made by Hero Interactive. You'd load it up on a browser, and it was just there, ready to play without any fuss.
You control a circular tank, moving it with the WASD keys and aiming with your mouse. The moment to moment play is about drifting into these circular arenas, called bubble-fields, and shooting every enemy tank you see. When you destroy them, they drop smaller bubbles that you collect to upgrade your own tank's weapons and armor. If you take too much damage, you lose those collected bubbles and get knocked back to a previous, safer field. The goal is to push through all the fields, clearing each one of enemies. The pacing is steady, with a gradual increase in enemy variety and firepower that keeps you on your toes. It feels like a constant cycle of building up your strength, testing it, and sometimes scrambling to recover after a hard fight.
