Ash Air Overview
Ash Air was one of those games you'd find buried in a Flash portal during the late 2000s. It didn't have a big studio name attached, just a straightforward premise that pulled you right in. The screen was usually cluttered with ads, but you clicked play anyway, because the idea was immediately clear.
You control a small plane from a side view, constantly moving forward. Your job is to fly through a sky darkened by volcanic ash, shooting down floating rocks and other hazards. You tap the arrow keys to dodge, and press space to fire your weapon. The main objective is to transport passengers from one airport to another, navigating several layers of increasing danger. You can switch between different guns and change your altitude to find clearer paths, which adds a small layer of strategy. The pacing is relentless; the ash clouds and debris come quickly, and a few mistakes will end your run. It feels like a tense, focused scramble where every second demands your attention.
