Art Of War: El Alamein Overview
Art of War: El Alamein was one of those straightforward action games you'd find during the Flash era. It didn't try to be anything more than a quick, playable diversion in your browser. The game put you right into a desert conflict, a common setting for these kinds of titles, with simple graphics that got the job done.
You control a soldier manning a gun on the back of a moving truck. Your view is from behind the weapon, and your job is to survive the journey by shooting everything that approaches. Enemy trucks, motorcycles, and later, helicopters, all come at you from the horizon. You use the mouse to aim and fire, while the truck drives itself forward on a set path. The main objective is simply to last as long as you can, destroying targets to build a score before your health runs out. The pacing is constant, with little respite between waves, and the difficulty comes from managing the increasing number and variety of targets. It feels like a focused test of your aim and reaction speed against a steady, predictable onslaught.
