Pachio Kun 2 Overview
Power Pro-kun Pocket 2 is a Game Boy Color baseball simulation from Konami, released in the year 2000. Its core baseball gameplay functions similarly to its predecessor, offering twelve Japanese league teams for standard play. The title's defining element is its narrative-driven Success mode, which presents a challenging management experience.
In the primary scenario, the player controls a professional athlete drafted by the struggling Drill Moglars team. The objective is to prevent the team's dissolution by leading it to a championship, a task that involves managing the protagonist's weekly schedule for training, socializing with teammates, and pursuing romantic relationships. Failure to maintain the character's health, reputation, or performance in critical late-game matches results in a complete save file deletion, though resetting the game is an option with associated penalties.
Completing this story multiple times unlocks a second, distinct scenario set in World War II. This mode shifts gameplay to a variant of Minesweeper, where the player navigates a board to reach the top while avoiding hazards and collecting items. Success in either narrative mode allows the resulting player character to be used in building custom teams for exhibition matches, which support two-player link cable play. Transferring these characters between players is possible and is necessary to access certain story conclusions.
The game's narrative structure expands the series setting across a thirty-year timeline, a departure from earlier entries. A compilation containing this game and its prequel was later released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004.
