Taxi Racers Overview
Taxi Racers was one of those simple 3D racing games you'd find on Flash game sites in the early 2000s. It fit right in with the era, a straightforward arcade experience you could load in a browser between other tasks. The details about its exact release or who made it are a bit fuzzy now, but it had that familiar, blocky visual style many of us remember.
You control a taxi from a third-person view, navigating twisting tracks that loop and dive. Your main goal is to finish ahead of six other vehicles. Along the way, you can collect fireballs scattered on the course. You have a limited supply, maybe five per race, which you can launch to temporarily disable an opponent ahead of you. The driving feels loose and fast, demanding quick reactions to avoid walls and stay on the pavement. Races are short, but the challenge comes from managing your speed on the narrow paths and timing your shots. It feels like a hectic, slightly chaotic dash to the finish line.
