Rugger Bugger Overview
Rugger Bugger was one of those simple, frantic games that felt typical of the Flash era. You'd find it on a gaming portal, load it in a browser, and within seconds you were in the middle of the action. It didn't need a complicated setup or a long tutorial.
You control a small bug-like creature trying to sprint across a rugby field. Your moment-to-moment play is all about evasion. Rugby players, much larger than you, run in set patterns or chase you directly. You use your mouse to guide your runner, clicking to make him dash in short bursts. The main objective is straightforward: get from one side of the field to the other without being tackled. Recognizable mechanics include the dash move for a quick speed boost and the need to time your runs between the opponents' paths. The pacing is relentless; the difficulty comes from the increasing number and speed of the players as you progress. It feels like a tense, jittery scramble where a single mistimed move ends your run.
