Road Rage Overview
Road Rage was one of those straightforward action games you'd find during the Flash era. It came out in 2002, a time when a quick browser game could easily fill a few minutes. The developer, Nitrome, had a knack for these simple, pixel-art concepts. The premise was immediate: you were in a car, and other cars wanted to wreck you.
You control a small vehicle from an overhead view, constantly moving forward. Your mouse directs the car, a simple point-and-drive system that feels twitchy and direct. The main goal is to survive as long as possible while the traffic thickens. You can shoot the other cars, but your ammunition is limited, forcing you to pick your targets. More often, you're weaving through lanes, trying to avoid head-on collisions that chip away at your health bar. The pacing is relentless; the game gets faster, and the roads become clogged with aggressive drivers. It feels tense and unforgiving, a test of reflexes where a single mistake often means starting over.
