Reindeer Roundup Overview
Reindeer Roundup was one of those simple, frantic games you'd find during the Flash era. It came out in 2002, a time when a straightforward concept and quick gameplay were enough to keep you clicking. I remember loading it up on a school computer, the graphics clean and cartoonish, promising a few minutes of distraction.
You control Santa, positioned at the bottom of the screen. Your job is to use a blowgun to tranquilize reindeer as they leap and run across the rooftops. The main objective is to clear each wave before the timer expires. You click on a reindeer to fire a dart; miss, and you waste a shot. The reindeer move in predictable but increasingly speedy patterns, and sometimes you have to lead your aim. The pacing starts relaxed but quickly becomes demanding, forcing you to prioritize targets. It feels like a test of reflexes and calm under a very silly kind of pressure.
