Rails Of War Overview
Rails of War was one of those straightforward action games from the Flash era. You would find it on gaming portals, a quick download that loaded right in your browser. It didn't try to be more than it was, a simple concept executed for a few minutes of focused play.
You control a heavily armed train, moving automatically along a track. Your job is to aim and fire at enemy units that appear on the screen, from ground vehicles to aircraft. The main objective is to survive each stage by eliminating all hostile forces before they can destroy your engine. You manage your firing arcs, switching between forward guns and side turrets to cover different angles. The pacing is constant, with new targets appearing as soon as old ones are cleared, and the difficulty comes from managing the onslaught from multiple directions. It feels like a tense, rolling gunfight where your focus is constantly divided.
