Matrix Ninja Overview
Matrix Ninja was one of those straightforward Flash games you'd find in the mid-2000s. It didn't try to be anything more than a quick test of reflexes, a common sight on gaming portals during that era. The presentation was minimal, just a dark grid and some green shapes, which fit right in with the simple, browser based experiences of the time.
You control a small green square, a ninja in the most abstract sense, and your only job is to survive. Waves of green spikes fall from the top of the screen, and you must slide your block left and right to avoid them. The objective is simply to last as long as possible, with your score ticking upward the longer you stay alive. The game offers a few difficulty settings, which mainly change how many lives you start with and the speed of the incoming spikes. The pacing is relentless; the spikes come faster and in denser patterns as time goes on, making each session a tense scramble for space on the grid. It feels like a pure, uncluttered challenge of anticipation and quick fingers.
