Mahjong Empire Overview
Mahjong Empire was one of those tile-matching games you'd find during the Flash era. It fit right in with other casual puzzles that were easy to pick up for a few minutes between tasks. The interface was straightforward, with a clean layout that didn't get in the way of the tiles themselves.
You control a cursor, clicking on matching pairs of free tiles to remove them from the board. The main objective is to clear every tile from the layout. The game uses the classic mahjong solitaire rules; you can only select tiles that are not blocked on their left and right sides. You work through multiple preset boards, each with a different tile arrangement that becomes more complex. The pacing is steady, and the difficulty comes from planning several moves ahead as the board opens up. It feels like a quiet, methodical puzzle where your focus narrows to the patterns on the screen.
