Fat Fred Overview
Fat Fred was one of those simple, straightforward games you'd find during the Flash era. It didn't try to be anything more than a quick distraction, the kind of thing you'd play for a few minutes between other tasks. The presentation was basic, with blocky graphics and a clear, uncomplicated goal.
You control a round, yellow character, presumably Fred, using the arrow keys to move him through each stage. Your objective is to collect a single hamburger placed somewhere in the level. The stages are small and the layouts are simple, often involving basic platforms and maybe a pit or two to avoid. There's no running or jumping; movement is methodical. The challenge comes from navigating the confined spaces without falling, though the penalty for a mistake is usually just restarting the level. The game moves at a slow, deliberate pace. It feels like a patient, almost meditative exercise in reaching a very specific destination.
