Doc Ock Rampage is one of those simple, straightforward games from the Flash era. You would find it on a website among many others, a quick distraction based on Spider-Man's villain. It came out in 2005, a time when these browser games were everywhere. The goal was never complicated, just pure, destructive fun.
You control Doctor Octopus from a side view, stomping through a city street. Your mechanical arms flail as you walk left and right with the arrow keys. The moment-to-moment play is about hitting the space bar to smash buildings into rubble while police cars arrive and officers shoot at you. You can swat the cops aside or destroy their vehicles to clear the way. The main objective is to cause as much damage as possible before your health runs out. The pacing is constant; something is always shooting or exploding, and the difficulty comes from the increasing number of enemies. It feels like a chaotic, button-mashing race against the city's defenses.
