Destruction Overview
Destruction was one of those straightforward Flash games you'd find in the mid-2000s. It didn't have a complicated story or a long tutorial. You just loaded it up in your browser and got to work. The game was made by a developer known as Nitrome, which put out a lot of small, clever games during that era.
You control a monster truck from a side view. The goal is simple: cause a specific amount of damage to the level before the timer runs out. You drive forward and reverse with the arrow keys, building up speed to crash through wooden structures, concrete barriers, and parked vehicles. The space bar makes your truck jump, letting you line up a better angle for a crash or avoid getting stuck. The levels are short, often lasting less than a minute, but they get trickier as you go. You have to figure out the most efficient path of carnage, sometimes using one fallen structure to smash into another. It feels like a controlled, satisfying kind of chaos.
