Buggy Run Overview
Buggy Run was one of those games you'd find on a Flash portal in the mid-2000s. It fit right in with the simple, quick-play titles that filled a browser tab during a break. The game had a straightforward premise that didn't need much explanation to get started.
You control a small dune buggy from a side view, constantly driving to the right. Your main goal is to reach the finish line before a timer, shown as a lit bomb fuse, counts down to zero. The track is littered with explosives, and you press the spacebar to make your buggy jump over them. Using the arrow keys, you navigate bumps and pits in the terrain, trying to maintain speed. The pacing is urgent, and the physics are loose, making the buggy feel bouncy and slightly unwieldy. It creates a tense, slightly silly race against a clock you can always see burning down.
