Blade Racing Overview
Blade Racing was one of those games you'd find in the early 2000s, a straightforward arcade racer built for the web. It fit right into the era of Flash games, where you could load something up in a browser and be playing in seconds. The experience was simple and unpretentious, a quick distraction between other tasks.
You control a low-polygon car from a behind-the-vehicle perspective, steering left and right across a winding road. The main goal is to last as long as possible, avoiding other traffic and the edges of the track. You tap the arrow keys to weave through lanes, and the spacebar makes your car jump, which is useful for clearing obstacles or landing on certain platforms. The pace is fast, and the difficulty comes from the road narrowing and the traffic becoming more unpredictable. It feels like a test of reflexes, where a single mistimed turn sends you spinning off into the void.
