Squareman Overview
Squareman was one of those simple, direct games you'd find in the Flash era. It appeared online around the early 2000s, a time when a browser could become an arcade. You controlled a small, blocky character navigating a world made of squares, a concept that felt both familiar and oddly specific to that period of web gaming.
You guide a little man through a series of platforming levels. The main goal is straightforward: get from the start to the exit. You run and jump across floating platforms, but the challenge comes from the environment itself. Everything is a square, including the hazards. You learn to watch for moving blocks that can crush you, pits lined with spikes, and other geometric dangers. The pacing is quick, and a single mistake often sends you back to the beginning of the stage. It feels like a test of timing and patience, where each successful jump is a small victory.
