Portal Wars Overview
Portal Wars was one of those games you'd find buried in a Flash portal around 2009 or so. It didn't have a big studio name attached, just something a developer put out into that wild ecosystem. You loaded it up in your browser, and for a few minutes, it was a perfect distraction between other tasks.
You control a single portal, a circular gateway that moves with your mouse. The goal is simple: eliminate all other portals on the map. You do this by clicking to fire small projectiles, little bursts of energy that chip away at an opponent's health bar. The core loop involves constant movement, dodging incoming fire from multiple angles while trying to land your own shots. It's a fast, chaotic scramble where the screen can get crowded. The game feels frantic and direct, a quick test of reflexes where a single mistake can end your run.
