Mission Mars Overview
Mission Mars was one of those games you'd find tucked away on a Flash portal in the early 2000s. It belonged to that era of simple, direct browser games where you could jump into an idea without much setup. The premise was straightforward: you were part of a mission to Mars, and things had gone wrong.
You control a lone astronaut on the Martian surface. Your main objective is to survive and complete your mission, which often involves navigating hazardous terrain and dealing with limited resources. Moment to moment, you move your character across a side-scrolling landscape, jumping over crevasses and avoiding environmental dangers. You use tools, perhaps a jetpack for limited flight or a weapon for defense, interacting with objects using a key like the spacebar. The game had a methodical pace; you had to plan your moves carefully because mistakes were costly. It felt isolated and tense, a quiet struggle against a dead world.
