Mirror Edge Overview
Mirror's Edge was a Flash game that came out in the early 2000s, a time when simple browser games were common. It was a 2D platformer set in a clean, abstract cityscape. The visuals were stark, using mostly white and grey with occasional splashes of color for important elements. It felt like a prototype, a testing ground for movement ideas.
You control a small, agile runner from a side view. Your goal is to collect all the red symbols scattered across each level. You run, jump, and slide across rooftops and through buildings. The controls are basic; you use the arrow keys to move and a single key to jump. The challenge comes from precision. You need to build and maintain momentum to clear gaps, and you often have to chain moves together without stopping. The game is fast and demanding. A mistimed jump sends you falling, forcing a restart. Playing it feels like solving a kinetic puzzle, where your own rhythm is the key to moving forward smoothly.
