Mardek Overview
Mardek was one of those RPGs you'd find in the later days of Flash gaming. It felt like a personal project, something built with a clear vision for a classic style of adventure. You play as the titular Mardek, a young warrior, and the story follows his journey through a fantasy world filled with towns, dungeons, and a growing cast of party members.
You control Mardek from an overhead perspective, moving him through maps and into turn-based battles. Your main goal is to progress through the chapters of the narrative, which involve exploring areas, talking to characters, and fighting monsters. Combat uses a familiar system where you select attacks, skills, or items for each party member. Outside of fights, you manage equipment, learn new abilities, and occasionally solve simple puzzles. The game has a steady, deliberate pace; some boss fights require careful planning. It feels like a thoughtful, expansive story told through the mechanics of a traditional RPG.
