Ikoncity: Air Hockey Overview
Ikoncity: Air Hockey was one of those straightforward Flash games you'd find in the late 2000s. It didn't try to be anything more than a digital version of the tabletop game, and that was its appeal. You loaded it in a browser, and within seconds you were playing.
You control a single paddle, moving it with your mouse to deflect the puck. The main objective is simple: get the puck past your opponent's paddle and into their goal more times than they get it into yours. The mechanics are basic but require some timing; you can angle your shots by hitting the puck with different parts of your paddle, and the game often has a noticeable rebound off the walls. The pacing is quick, with the puck gaining speed after solid hits, and the difficulty comes from the opponent's reactions, which can feel quite sharp. It feels responsive and direct, a clean simulation of the physical game's sudden stops and starts.
